In his legal career prior to Brown Sims, Mr. Clayton’s legal practice focused primarily on representing employer's in South Louisiana and maritime employers and their respective insurance carriers throughout the United States in both state and federal Workers’ Compensation, Labor and Employment, and other personal injury cases.  However, Mr. Clayton has also represented individuals and small businesses before Louisiana State and Federal Courts in employment and labor law cases with the same degree of success and satisfaction to his clients.  These experiences have instilled the fundamental principals of dedication, communication, diligence, and the anticipation and satisfaction of the individual clients needs within the framework of the law.  His dedication to these fundamental principles has been the foundation by which Mr. Clayton has been able to achieve remarkable results for those clients he has represented throughout his career, no matter if the client and their case is large or small, or involves great or limited exposure and value.  Mr. Clayton holds to the belief that the most effective attorney for his clients is one who can quickly identify the inherent legal issues and problems, and formulate a practical solution while being attentive to the individual client’s needs, risk, financial concerns and business model.

Mr. Clayton is based out of the firm’s New Orleans office and has previously practiced extensively in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1991 from Millsaps College, and a Master of Arts in 1994 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1997 from Louisiana State University.  He is currently licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana only.  Mr. Clayton is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States District Court, Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana.   He is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
