The third lawyer in his family, John Davis has a strong
gut instinct that rarely lets him down, and he offers
his clients exactly what they should expect from a lawyer:
the bottom line. When his clients are faced with tough,
adverse facts, Mr. Davis lets his clients know up front
what they can expect and does his best to minimize their
potential exposure by minimizing damages or securing
a favorable result. If his clients are equipped with
facts that strongly favor their position, John presses
on toward success in front of a jury.
A great example of this success is a recent complex
chemical exposure case in which the plaintiff demanded
policy limits of one million dollars. The client was
accused of exposing the plaintiff to anhydrous ammonia,
causing chemically induced asthma and a number of other
health complaints.
Mr. Davis examined the medical
records produced by the plaintiff but suspected they
were incomplete. Using the previously provided medical
release, Mr. Davis subpoenaed the plaintiff’s medical insurance records and discovered
that the plaintiff failed to disclose an additional 30
health providers she had consulted over five years preceding
the exposure. After ordering all the records, Mr. Davis
uncovered an undeniable and persistent pre-existing history
of asthma-like symptoms which destroyed the causal connection
between the plaintiff’s exposure and claimed asthma
condition. After a five-day jury trial, Mr. Davis’ client
was found not negligent.
Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude)
from Midwestern State University in 1996 and his Juris
Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1999. He is
admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court
for the Southern, Western, Northern and Eastern Districts
of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth
Circuit.
He is a Member of the
State Bar of Texas; Houston Bar Association; American
Bar Association; and the Association of American Trial
Lawyers.
When not practicing law, Mr.
Davis is an avid reader of historical and nonfiction. Mr. Davis also spends
his spare time traveling all over the world. His
recent trips included destinations in France and Russia. Each
year, Mr. Davis leads one of the firm’s cooking
teams at the Mariner’s Cook Off.
