The majority of Ms. Herrera’s work focuses on defending employers and carriers against claims arising under the Longshore and Habor Workers’ Compensation Act.  In addition, she has experience handling contract disputes, personal injury suits, and claims arising under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act.  Ms. Herrera has also worked in the banking industry, dot com industry, and independent insurance industry.  Her diverse business experience has helped to prepare her for handling complex litigation issues.

Ms. Herrera received a Bachelor of Science in Advertising in 2000 from the University of Texas at Austin.  She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2007 from South Texas College of Law.  While at South Texas College of Law, Ms. Herrera competed in the finals of the 2005 Leroy Jeffers Intramural Moot Court Competition, the 2006 Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, won best oral advocate at the 2006 National Health Law Moot Court Competition, won best oral advocate at the 2007 Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition, and won an international oralist ranking at the 2007 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

In addition, Ms. Herrera was the 2007 recipient of the Justice Bud Warren Appellate Advocacy Scholarship.  She continues to participate in the South Texas College of Law advocacy program by coaching the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court team as an adjunct faculty member. 

She is a Member of the American Bar Association, Houston Bar Association, Texas Young Lawyers Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association and American Association for Justice.
