Ms. Abbott’s legal experience includes representing employers with regard to labor and employment matters. She previously served as an Assistant City Attorney with the Office of the City Attorney for the City of Miami in its labor and employment division. Prior to that, she was with a statewide law firm, wherein her work included providing employers general advice and counseling regarding compliance with employment and labor laws and defending employers in employment-related lawsuits. Ms. Abbott also interned for the Honorable Judge William C. Turnoff, United States Magistrate for the Southern District of Florida. In addition to labor and employment matters, Ms. Abbott also handles commercial litigation and construction defect claims for the firm.
Ms. Abbott is the Co-Chairperson for The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Section Judicial Outreach Subcommittee. Ms. Abbott also serves on the Board of Directors for the Dade County Bar Association and is the Membership Chair for the Dade County Bar Association. She is the Co-Chairperson for the YLS Dade County Bar Association Pro Bono and Community Service Committee. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the Ponce Business Association.
She is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
She received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in December 2001 from Nova Southeastern University. She was an Associate Editor of the Nova Law Review and a Teaching Assistant for Constitutional Law. |
