Most of Mr. Deravin’s work focuses on complex litigation involving products liability, and his unique background provides him a broad scope of tools to pull from in resolving issues in favor of his clients.

Prior to Brown Sims, Mr. Deravin attended law school at Louisiana State University where he received his J.D. and Graduate Certificate in Energy Law & Policy. While in law school Mr. Deravin was a Research Assistant for the Head of the Energy Law Department and competed in the South Texas College of Law Energy Law Negotiations Competition, where he and his partner came in 3rd-place nationally.

Before enrolling in law school, Mr. Deravin graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honors Society. After undergraduate graduation, Mr. Deravin put his petroleum engineering degree to full use as a Production & Operations Engineer at a large oil and gas E&P company located in Houston, TX. As an engineer at an oil & gas company, Mr. Deravin often designed and coordinated with joint interest partners to manage high-risk, multimillion-dollar oil & gas projects and worked diligently to ensure that such jobs were completed on time, within budget, and were performed safely.

Prior to his work as an engineer and an attorney, Mr. Deravin served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) – Naval Special Warfare (NSW). Damon served as a Navy Special Warfare Boat Operator (SWCC) with Special Boat Team-22 and still lives by the SWCC creed to this day, “On Time, On Target, Never Quit!”
