Cristina A. Hernandez is a native of Miami, Florida. Miss Hernandez is an Associate at the Miami office, focusing her practice on various types of government contract claims, primarily focusing on Defense Base Act (DBA) and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) Claims.
Prior to joining Brown Sims, Miss Hernandez was an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. During her time as a Prosecutor, Miss Hernandez prosecuted a wide variety of criminal cases including felonies, misdemeanors and juvenile matters.
Prior to her work with the State Attorney’s Office, Miss Hernandez received extensive experience in various areas of law. She has served as a law clerk for private construction litigation and family law firms, as well as a law clerk for the Monroe County Attorney’s Office. Miss Hernandez has also worked as an AmeriCorps Volunteer for the “Goodwill GoodWorks!” Program. She also previously interned for the Florida House of Representatives.
Miss Hernandez received a Bachelor of Political Science degree in 2018 from Florida State University, where she concentrated her studies of Public Administration and went on to receive a Certificate in Emergency Management and a Certificate in U.S. Intelligence Systems. She was also a member of Florida State University’s Mock Trial team.
In 2021, Miss Hernandez earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago. During her time at Loyola University Chicago, Miss Hernandez specialized in litigation skills, where she participated in the university’s London Comparative Advocacy Program and went on to receive a Certificate in Advocacy upon graduation.
