Jay Brainard practices within the firm’s general litigation defense group with a particular emphasis on matters involving insurance coverage. Prior to joining Brown Sims, Jay was a judicial extern for the Honorable Donna Phillips Currault in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Jay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in 2021. He received a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law in 2024, graduating cum laude. While at Loyola, Jay served as the Online Editor for the Loyola Maritime Law Journal and was published in the Journal’s 23rd Volume. As a member of Loyola’s Moot Court program, Jay competed on the Constitutional Criminal Procedure team at the 34th Annual National Criminal Procedure Tournament in San Diego, winning the competition’s Best Petitioner Brief award.
Jay was a Law Clerk at Brown Sims during his final year of law school before becoming an associate attorney.
