Ms. Brettschneider’s practice focuses primarily on the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compesnation Act (LHWCA) and the Defense Base Act (DBA).

Ms. Brettschneider graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Texas A&M University in 2008 and with a Masters of Education degree from Texas A&M University in 2010. She graduated magna cum laude with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2015. During her time at South Texas College of Law, she was awarded the Buck Wynne Scholarship in 2014, a CALI Award in Criminal Procedure and Environmental Law, and was a Dean’s Scholar. Ms. Brettschneider has also received a certification for 40 hours of mediator training. Ms. Brettschneider was admitted to the Texas Bar in November 2015. She is currently a member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association.

Ms. Brettschneider’s prior experience includes an internship at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, an internship at the 245th Family District Court of Houston, Texas, and an internship with First American Title Insurance. While interning for the Honorable Judge David Hittner, Ms. Brettschneider primarily spent her time drafting orders, drafting memoranda, and observing court proceedings. During her internship for the Honorable Judge Roy L. Moore, she observed trials, analyzed case law, and discussed trial tactics and rulings with Judge Moore.

During Ms. Brettschneider’s time at First American Title, she assisted underwriters in reviewing surveys and contract policies, investigated client’s financial viability and aided escrow officers in determining which endorsements to offer their clients.
